The winter of 2023 in Ukraine is called “the most difficult in all the years of independence.”
The air temperature in the homes of Kyiv residents during the heating season can be +18–19°C, which is below the norm (21°C) due to possible strikes on gas pumping stations or gas shortages, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said in an interview “Babel” publication.
“I don’t want to reassure everyone and say that everything will be fine. We live in harsh realities and have to calculate different scenarios. Gas is the responsibility of the government, they assured us that there will be gas for the population and that it will not become more expensive. This is the expectation. But we do not rule out that there may be acts of terrorism, attacks on gas stations. We also take this scenario into account,” said the mayor of Kyiv.
Therefore, he asked the people of Kyiv to prepare warm home clothes and warm blankets just in case.
At the same time, the mayor assured: “We will do everything possible and impossible, which depends on us, so that houses are warm.”
