D-14  or a spouse visa, also known as a visa based on marriage, is available to the spouse of a Ukrainian citizen seeking to reunite with their family and establish residence in Ukraine.

The D-14 visa stands out as a vital tool for foreign family members of Ukrainian citizens seeking to reunite and reside together in the country. Often referred to as a “marriage visa,” the D-14 visa enables spouses of Ukrainian citizens to enter Ukraine based on their marital status and subsequently obtain a residence permit.

Who Can Apply for a D-14 Visa?

Primarily, the D-14 visa caters to foreign spouses of Ukrainian citizens, allowing them to join their partners in Ukraine. Whether the marriage was solemnized within or outside Ukraine’s borders, foreign spouses can apply for the D-14 visa to facilitate their reunion with their Ukrainian counterparts.

Document Requirements for D-14 Visa Application

To apply for a D-14 visa, applicants must submit a comprehensive set of documents, including:

  • Visa application form
  • Valid passport with a minimum validity of 3 months beyond the intended departure date from Ukraine, with sufficient free pages for visa stamps. Translated into Ukrainian and apostilled.
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (35×45 mm)
  • Health insurance policy covering expenses of at least EUR 30,000 or equivalent in another currency
  • Document confirming the marriage between the Ukrainian citizen and the foreign spouse, with validation according to the laws of the country where the marriage took place if outside Ukraine. Translated into Ukrainian and apostilled.
  • Document confirming the foreign spouse’s status as a family member of a foreigner or stateless person holding a temporary residence permit in Ukraine translated into Ukrainian and apostilled
  • Documents demonstrating financial means to support family members in Ukraine

Additionally, the Consul reserves the right to request supplementary documents and may conduct personal interviews with applicants. Following the interview, applications may undergo further administrative processing before approval.

Embassies and consulates of Ukraine apply a consular fee for all visa types (transit, short-term, long-term) at the standard rate of USD 65, unless specified otherwise by international agreements of Ukraine.
