A drone strike on the city of Dnipro during the night of April 17 has caused significant damage to dozens of architectural landmarks and more than twenty historically valuable buildings. Among the affected structures are several that are over a century old and already suffering from structural wear and age-related cracks.
The attack, part of a broader escalation in aerial assaults, has left cultural and historical sites in ruins or in urgent need of repair. Notable among the damaged buildings are the Main Post Office, the iconic Astoria Hotel, the Literary Prydniprovia Museum, and the Dnipro Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The Astoria Hotel, in particular, holds immense historical value as the oldest hotel in the city and a nationally recognized heritage site. The building sustained partial glass damage during the attack.
