Finishing up in third place is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, Tenerife. Tenerife offers plenty for tourists to explore, including the infamous Mount Teide where you can take a tour around the volcano, taking in the incredible views of the island from its high peak.
Rounding out the top five is the Italian island of Sicily in fourth and Corfu in Greece in fifth. Further down the top 10, Greece continues its winning streak with destinations such as Kos, Mykonos and Crete all making the cut for the most searched European vacation spots.
Europe’s Most Popular European Holiday Destinations
12 European countries eagerly search to holiday in Tenerife the most out of any other European location, the UK, Iceland and Latvia included. The weather in Tenerife is one of the main reasons for its popularity among northern-based European countries: even during the winter months, Tenerife has an average high of 20 degrees, offering a sunny escape to those battling the chill of January. Crete finishes in second place with six countries making this destination their top choice. Santorini places third with four countries, and neighbouring island Kos lands in fifth with three countries, a tie with the party island of Ibiza.
Rest of The World
The party capital of Ibiza kicks things off as the most Googled vacation spot for North and Central America, as well as South America. For Africa, Santorini comes out on top as the most popular European holiday destination, as well as Asia and Oceania.
