Yanair’s Saab 340 landed today in regional airport “Zhitomir” for the first time in 25 years of airport’s downtime.
Yanair airlines invested $2mln (and planning to invest $15mln more) in airport reconstruction and planning to place its maintenance base there. Aircrafts like An-24 or Saab 340 can land in “Zhitomir” airfield now. Further airport reconstruction and the expansion of its capacity are planned. Yanair expects that flights from Zhitomir will be 30% cheaper than from Kiev.
The airline recently renovated Vinnitsa airport, that used to be in a similar condition.
