Greenpeace Opens Kyiv Office

Greenpeace, the global environmental organization, has officially opened its first office in Ukraine. This landmark event marks a significant step for Ukraine’s environmental movement and highlights the growing international attention on the country’s ecological challenges.

The new office will primarily focus on facilitating Ukraine’s green recovery in the aftermath of Russia’s devastating war. Greenpeace experts plan to actively work on:

  • Investigating Nuclear Risks: The occupation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant poses an unprecedented threat to nuclear safety, not only for Ukraine but for the entire region. Greenpeace will focus on monitoring the situation, developing recommendations to mitigate risks, and informing the international community about the dangers.
  • Promoting Renewable Energy: The organization will actively support Ukraine’s transition to clean energy sources such as solar and wind power. Greenpeace experts will provide consultations to the government and civil society organizations on the development and implementation of effective energy-efficient solutions.
  • Protecting Natural Resources: Greenpeace will also focus on preserving Ukraine’s unique ecosystems, which have suffered significant damage due to the war.

Natalia Hozak, an experienced ecologist, has been appointed as the director of the Greenpeace office in Ukraine.
