On the eve of the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah, celebrated on October 2-4 2016, Hasidim starts their traditional pilgrimage to Ukraine, to the burial site of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, located on the former site of the Jewish cemetery in a rebuilt synagogue.
From September, 27 to October,6 International Airport “Kiev” serve 73 flights and about 13 500 thousand pilgrims who come from different countries to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. The great majority have come from the USA, Poland and Israel.
Boryspil International Airport has been tasked with handling over 13,000 Hasidic Jews from all over the world, using 73 special flights served by IsrAir (Israel), Arkia (Israel) and Dart (Ukraine).
