The historical Hotel Hermitage in the center of Kyiv was sold at an auction for 311 million hryvnias, as reported by the State Property Fund.
The final price of the complex exceeded the starting price of the auction by 15 times (21.1 million hryvnias). Moreover, the sale of the hotel on Bogdan Khmelnytskyi Street became the most expensive since the resumption of small privatization in September 2022.
The new owner is obliged to sign a contract for the preservation of cultural heritage and maintain the appearance of the two historical buildings covering an area of over five thousand square meters.
The historical Hotel Hermitage is located on Bogdan Khmelnytskyi Street, near the National Opera Theater. The buildings were constructed between 1902 and 1904 according to the project of Kyiv architect Andriy Krauss. The owner of the building was a millionaire and brick manufacturer Yakiv Berna. In the early 20th century, prominent Ukrainian figures, including Mykhailo Hrushevsky, often stayed at the hotel.
