In Warsaw, Poland, on July 14, 2023, an important milestone was reached as Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil International Airport, and Yun Yong Zhong, President and CEO of Hyundai Engineering & Construction, a global Korean construction company (Hyundai E&C), along with Kim Keong-Soo, Chief Operating Officer, and in the presence of Won Hee Ryong, Minister of Lands, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, came together to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. This momentous document signifies the partnership and collaboration between the two parties with the goal of restoring and developing Ukraine’s aviation infrastructure.
The signing of the Memorandum was a result of fruitful negotiations that took place during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2023 (URC 2023), an international conference focused on addressing the restoration needs of Ukraine. The conference, held in London on June 21-22, provided a platform for Oleksiy Dubrevskyy to engage in significant meetings and substantive discussions with various foreign partners, including business leaders, international organizations, and investors. During these negotiations, Hyundai E&C demonstrated a keen interest in investing their resources and leveraging their technological expertise in infrastructure projects aimed at reconstructing Ukraine, particularly in the revitalization of aviation infrastructure.
