It is possible to get married at the Ukrainian Embassy. Foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine will now be able to use the State Register of Civil Status Acts. This will give them the opportunity to carry out state registration of acts of civil status, make changes to act records of civil status, and renew and cancel them.
Also, foreign diplomatic institutions will be able to re-issue state registration certificates and extracts from the Register. Documents will be issued regardless of the storage location of the paper medium.
The access to services in the field of state registration of civil status acts will be simplified for Ukrainians abroad and the terms of obtaining them at foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine will be shortened.
Foreign diplomatic institutions that will provide services in the field of state registration of civil status acts using the Register will be determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The adopted decision will enter into force 10 days after its publication.
Due to martial law in Ukraine, it is possible to register a marriage on the day of application. In addition, the option of getting married via video link is available, without the personal presence of one or both brides and grooms (for military personnel, law enforcement officers, and hospital workers).
