Despite the ongoing war, international fast-food giants KFC and McDonald’s are demonstrating their commitment to the Ukrainian market by expanding their restaurant networks.
KFC Ukraine announced plans to open three new restaurants by the end of the year. In September, a new location will open on Dniprovska Naberezhna in Kyiv. October will see the opening of the first KFC restaurant in Uzhhorod, located in the Korona shopping center. November will bring the brand to Bila Tserkva, with a new restaurant on Yaroslava Mudrogo Street. These expansions will bring the total number of KFC restaurants in Ukraine to 64, with 25 in Kyiv alone.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s is also set to make its debut in Uzhhorod and Mukachevo. Construction has already begun on a new McDonald’s restaurant in Mukachevo, located on Lavkivska Street, between Epicenter and an OKKO gas station. According to local media, Тячів News, the building will have a total area of 553 square meters and is expected to be completed by February 2025. McDonald’s plans to open around six new restaurants in Ukraine in 2024, with a total investment of approximately 1 billion Ukrainian hryvnia.
