In July 2021, 147.9 thousand passengers used Kharkiv International Airport’s services. International traffic amounted to 136 thousand passengers, while domestic traffic reached 11.9 thousand passengers. International traffic increased by 24% compared to the pre-quarantine year 2019. The overall figure increased by 13%.
To recap, July 2020 was the second month that saw flights after the lockdown—journeys and passenger traffic were just beginning to get back on track.
There were 614 flights in July 2021, which is 16% more than in 2019: 407 international and 207 domestic ones. The most popular destinations were Antalya, Istanbul, Tivat, Boryspil, and Bodrum. Compared to the pre-quarantine period, the number of domestic flights increased significantly—by 31%.
Figures for the seven months of 2021
Total passenger traffic for the first seven months of 2021 has almost reached the pre-quarantine level. 553.2 thousand people had the flights—only 19% less than in 2019. The airport restored the figures every month, but in June, they surpassed the pre-quarantine ones for the first time.
For seven months, airlines operated 2,662 flights from the airport—12% less than in the pre-quarantine year 2019. The number of domestic flights increased by 3%.
All available destinations
In July, UIA resumed direct flights to Tel Aviv, the 17th destination from Kharkiv International Airport passengers could take. Today, airlines operate regular flights to Batumi (Georgia), Berlin and Dortmund (Germany), Gdansk (Poland), Burgas (Bulgaria), Bodrum and Istanbul (Turkey), Heraklion (Greece), Larnaca (Cyprus), Tivat (Montenegro), Tirana (Albania), and Kyiv and Odesa. Besides, airlines resumed charter flights to Antalya (Turkey), Dalaman (Turkey), and Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).
