Starting from November 22, for the first time in 30 years, the main visual symbol of Kyiv will be fully accessible to residents and visitors of the city, as reported by the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve.
For centuries, Lavra has been a crucial educational and cultural center in Ukraine. The National Preserve is witnessing significant historical changes as Lavra returns to Ukraine, and Ukrainians return to Lavra.
Guided tours to the highest point of the Great Lavra Bell Tower were last conducted in the 1990s. Subsequently, only the lower tiers of the tower were accessible to visitors. The extensive restoration work took place in 2011–2012.
The Great Lavra Bell Tower stands as one of the main symbols of Kyiv. Situated on the right bank of the Dnipro River, it served as a landmark for travelers heading to Kyiv. The tower offers a picturesque view of the city and the Dnipro River.
This initiative opens up a unique opportunity for residents and guests to explore the historical and cultural significance of the iconic bell tower, marking a new chapter in the accessibility of Kyiv’s visual treasures.
