Lviv to Renovate Mazepa and Hrinchenko Streets

Lviv will undergo major renovations of Mazepa and Hrinchenko streets, funded by a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The European Union is providing a €9.8 million loan with a 20-year term for this project, reports LVIV.MEDIA. The city’s contribution will add €3.7 million to the total, bringing the investment to €13.5 million.

Purpose of the Project

The decision to renovate these streets stems from their location in the Shevchenkivskyi district, home to the largest medical complex in the city, including children’s hospitals, which are part of the “Unbroken” ecosystem. Additionally, these streets serve six-city bus routes, one trolleybus route, and several suburban routes.

Planned Improvements

  • Barrier-Free Spaces: The project will ensure the creation of accessible spaces, including the installation of ramps at bus stops.
  • Island Stops: Stops will be constructed between lanes for public and private transport, with island platforms 35 meters in length.
  • Increased Traffic Lanes: The number of traffic lanes will be increased to four or five.
  • Pedestrian Crossings: New pedestrian crossings will be created.
  • Green Zones: Green areas will be established along the streets.
  • Parking: A total of 148 parking spaces will be added.
  • Bicycle Lanes: Bicycle lanes will be included in the street design.

The investment sub-project must be implemented within three years, by 2027. The loan will be taken for a term of 20 years with a grace period of up to 4 years. Repayment will be made in partial payments twice a year according to the schedule. The first payment is due 60 days after receiving the tranche. The source of repayment will be funds from the Lvivavtodor Municipal Enterprise, as well as other sources provided by law.
