Additionally, London is highly sought-after on TikTok, accumulating an astonishing 70.6 billion views globally.
Taking the second position is the enchanting city of Paris, often referred to as the “city of love,” with a social travel score of 9.32. Paris captivates visitors with its romantic ambiance and has garnered over 137 million Instagram posts highlighting its beauty. It also ranks among the top five cities on TikTok, accumulating a total of 66.6 billion views for posts featuring the city’s allure.
Securing the third spot is Barcelona, a vibrant city located in the northeast of Spain, with a social travel score of 9.25. Barcelona shines on TikTok, attracting a staggering 108 billion views. Moreover, it has witnessed a substantial surge in interest, placing third in terms of a 336% increase in searches for holidays to this captivating destination over the past three years.
Additional insights from the study include Lisbon, Frankfurt, and Barcelona emerging as the top three cities experiencing a surge in tourist interest. Lisbon claims the first position with an astounding 500% increase in searches for the destination. India, Japan, and Italy are identified as the top three most picturesque travel destinations, with India amassing over 219 million dedicated Instagram posts. Finally, Dubai takes the lead as the most popular city destination on TikTok, amassing a remarkable 137.7 billion TikTok views for the capital of the UAE.
