Most Popular Railway Routes in Ukraine
The Kyiv-Chop route emerged as the most popular route, with a 221% increase in passenger traffic. This growth stems from the development of Chop station as a hub for both domestic and international trains, including the introduction of an alternative travel option to Budapest and Vienna following the launch of trains No. 367/745 Lutsk/Kyiv – Chop and No. 143/146 Chop – Vienna in December 2023.
Other notable routes experiencing significant growth include Mykolaiv – Kyiv and Kyiv – Mykolaiv, with increases of 52% and 66%, respectively. Kyiv – Khmelnytskyi – Kyiv, Kyiv – Chelm – Kyiv, and Kyiv – Vinnytsia – Kyiv also rank among the top routes with substantial growth.
Overall, Ukrzaliznytsia increased passenger traffic by 422,500 passengers in domestic and international services in May 2024 compared to the same period last year. This positive trend highlights the growing popularity of rail travel in Ukraine.
