The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has initiated a project aimed at replacing the Soviet coat of arms with a Ukrainian symbol. The completion of the installation is scheduled for August 24th.
Metinvest Group, owned by Akhmetov, has generously provided the steel required for the new coat of arms and is delivering it to the government at no cost. Additionally, the company is serving as a financial partner for the project.
Yuriy Ryzhenkov, the CEO of the company, stated that Zaporizhstal specifically manufactured steel of the same quality used in the construction of the entire Motherland Monument back in 1981.
The Motherland Monument, erected in 1981, holds the distinction of being the tallest monumental sculpture in Europe. In a referendum held last year, an overwhelming 85% of the citizens voted in favor of replacing the Soviet coat of arms with a Ukrainian symbol.
