The Lviv Historical Museum opened the “Fashionable Centuries” exhibition, which was created using materials from the museum’s stock collections.
Geographically, the exhibition mainly covers Galicia of the XVIII-XIX centuries. The exposition includes authentic samples of women’s and men’s clothing and accessories, as well as monuments of painting and graphics, which help to understand what the art of fashionable dressing was in those times, the press service of the museum reported.
Most of the exhibits were given to the Museum in the interwar period by the famous Lviv collector Helena Dombchanska (1863-1956). Despite some fragmentation, this selection presents characteristic elements of both everyday and more solemn outfits of that time.
In addition, visitors will be able to get to know the creators of clothing of that time, in particular, the master of tailoring in Lviv Tomas Kulchytskyi, who founded the first fashion magazine in the city. Items belonging to well-known personalities and materials related to the owners of the Royal Tenement also deserve special attention.
The exhibition “Fashionable Centuries” is available in the Royal Halls of Kamianitsa Kornyakt (Rynok Square, 6, Royal Halls, II floor), which makes it possible to make these unique interiors available to visitors again after a long forced break. The museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
