In Ukraine, over 2500 websites hosting gambling activities and online casinos without proper licenses have been blocked, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
“As of April 2024, more than 450 criminal offenses related to illegal gambling activities are under investigation. Charges have been brought against 21 individuals, and indictments have been forwarded to court against 72 persons, including 7 indictments against 68 members of criminal groups,” the Prosecutor General’s Office press service reported.
Law enforcement officials registered 169 gambling-related violations in 2023. Over 50 indictments were sent to court against 97 individuals, and the operations of ten illegal casinos were terminated.
Furthermore, investigations are underway involving several major companies implicated in organizing and operating illegal online casinos. One ongoing investigation concerns the legalization of profits from illegal online gambling amounting to 4.8 billion hryvnias.
