Ukrzaliznytsia has signed a contract with the Czech carrier RegioJet to operate train services on the Chop-Prague route. This was announced by the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, Yevhen Lyashchenko.
Lyashchenko stated that the final technical details are currently being coordinated. It is expected that the Chop-Prague train will start running in March. RegioJet has confirmed the completion of preparations for the launch of the Chop-Kosice-Prague route.
Additionally, there are plans to launch a second train from Prague to Ukraine along a new route Prague-Kosice-Chop shortly. All necessary permits have been obtained from the railway administrations of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Earlier this week, the company mentioned that the timing of the train launch depends on Ukrzaliznytsia.
RegioJet’s owner, Radim Jančura, revealed that the Chop-Prague route will consist of three cars with 140 seats, including 80 in sleeper cars and 60 in seated cars. The ticket price is expected to be around 25 euros, inclusive of free water, coffee, and Wi-Fi access.
The travel time is estimated to be 13 hours and 30 minutes, including passport control at the Slovakian border. The Chop wagons will be part of the Prague-Kosice train, which consists of 18 wagons, and passengers will be provided with breakfast and dinner.
