600 billion euros: the European Commission assessed the damage caused by Russia to Ukraine
This is the amount indicated in the statement released today by Ursula von der Leyen.
The head of the European Commission is convinced that Russia and its oligarchs must cover the cost of rebuilding Ukraine, and that Europe has the means to make Russia pay.
“We blocked 300 billion euros of Russian central bank reserves and froze 19 billion euros of Russian oligarchs. In the short term, we could create a structure with our partners to manage and invest these funds. Then we would use the proceeds for Ukraine,” said Ursula von der Leyen.
