The year 2022 became a real challenge for Ukraine in general and Ukrainian cinema in particular. Nevertheless, Ukrainian cinema continued to live and develop, representing the country at various international film festivals and industry platforms. “Klondike”
Marina Er Horbach’s war drama “Klondike” is winning award after award. In particular, “Klondike” received the prize for the best direction in the World Cinema Dramatic section at Sundance, the main independent film festival in the USA, the Ecumenical Council Award in the Panorama section at the Berlin Film Festival, as well as honors at the festivals in Seattle and Sarajevo. In addition, “Klondike” was selected for the Oscar nomination as “Best Foreign Language Film”.
“A House Made of Splinters”
“A House Made of Splinters” is the first Ukrainian nominee for the “Oscar” award. The documentary, jointly produced by Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Ukraine, tells the story of the residents of an orphanage located just 20 kilometers from the front line in eastern Ukraine.
“I work at the cemetery”
The main character of the black comedy is the owner of an office that manufactures monuments for graves. Every day he meets a variety of clients, each of whom has special and sometimes unusual wishes regarding the burial of deceased relatives. I Work At The Cemetery is in the Top 10 films of Netflix Movie in Ukraine.
“Rhino”
The action of the crime drama “Rhino” takes place in the stormy 90s, when the law was in the hands and on the side of those who are stronger, more cunning and risky. The main character, nicknamed the Rhino, enters the criminal world and begins his bloody path, which will lead him to a completely different place than he expected.
