Tourism Sector in Ukraine Booms

The tourism sector in Ukraine is experiencing a significant uptick, as evidenced by a substantial increase in tax revenue generated in the first half of 2024. According to the latest figures, entities within the tourism industry contributed a total of 1.2 billion hryvnia to the state budget, marking a 39% rise compared to the same period in 2023.

This growth is attributed to a 13% increase in the overall number of taxpayers engaged in tourism activities. The number of legal entities within the sector expanded by 4%, while individual taxpayers saw a more pronounced growth of 17%.

Hotels emerged as the primary contributors to the tax revenue, generating an impressive 808.9 million hryvnia. Tour operators followed suit with 164.7 million hryvnia, while travel agencies contributed 102.6 million hryvnia. Tourist bases, children’s recreation camps, and campsites collectively added 80 million hryvnia to the state coffers.

The robust performance of the tourism industry signifies a positive trend for Ukraine’s economy. As the sector continues to expand, it is expected to create new jobs and stimulate growth in related industries.
