Two documentaries highlighting the war in Ukraine have made it to the shortlists for the 2025 Academy Awards in the “Documentary Feature Film” category.
The first film, Porcelain War, directed by Brendan Bellomo and Slava Leontyev, tells the story of three Ukrainian ceramic artists who continue to create and persevere despite the challenges of war.
The second, Once Upon a Time in Ukraine, directed by Betsy West and Earl Mack, is a Ukrainian-American co-production. This film provides a poignant look at the war through the eyes of children, capturing their resilience and the impact of conflict on their lives.
The 2025 Oscars ceremony is set to take place on the night of March 3 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. These nominations underscore the global recognition of the human stories emerging from Ukraine during the ongoing war.
