The first toll roads for trucks weighing over 12 tons are planned to be opened in five regions of Ukraine, according to Mustafa Nayyem, the Head of the Ministry of Reconstruction, at the Ukraine Restoration Conference (URC) in London.
The project is initially planned to be launched in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Odesa, and Poltava regions. Currently, the technical and economic justification is being prepared for this purpose. The total cost of the project is estimated at $6.5 billion.
Work on the national tolling system for the toll roads started even before the full-scale invasion, according to Mustafa Nayyem. He says it is “one of the most promising projects in Ukraine.”
The project is planned to be implemented immediately after the arrival of partners. The Ministry of Reconstruction states that companies from the European Union are interested in participating, as reported by “Interfax-Ukraine.”
