Ukraine will introduce the European Digital Wallet within two years, as announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
“The European Parliament has supported the creation of a legislative framework and a prototype for the EU wallet. Now, member states of the consortium, including Ukraine, are obligated to release their national EU wallets within 24 months,” the statement reads.
Ukraine is actively participating in the development of the EU Wallet, with the “Diia” application being considered as a potential candidate for the project. The application already performs most functions outlined in the European Digital Identity (EUDI) wallet, according to the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
The EU Wallet will enable access to both public and private services across borders. The prototype wallet, named POTENTIAL, will assess its effectiveness in various areas, including:
- E-Governance
- Opening a bank account
- SIM card registration
- Mobile driver’s licenses
- Qualified electronic signatures
- Prescription services.
