Stary Lev Publishing House was recognized as the best children’s publishing house of the year in the “Europe” category at the 60th Bologna International Children’s Book Fair in Italy.
Ukrainians were shortlisted for the Bologna prize best children’s publishers of the year for the first time.
“It’s like an Oscar, but in the world of children’s books, it’s like a Nobel, but for publishers. This is an incredible achievement, an achievement that we have been working toward for the last ten years, systematically representing ourselves, Ukraine, Ukrainian authors and illustrators in the world and on the international rights market,” the message reads.
The award is presented to the best publishers in nominations from six geographic regions. Also, the winners were:
Africa – Trinta zero Nove (Mozambique);
Asia – Wonder House Books (India);
Central and South America – Editorial Amanuta (Chile);
North America – La courte échelle (Canada);
Oceania – Magabala Books (Australia).
The Bologna Prize is the world’s largest prize for publishers of children’s literature. In 2023, it was awarded for the twelfth time.
