Ukrainian citizens decided on a new name for the South-Western Railway.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov in Telegram.
“We are continuing the Ukrainization of railways. The “South-Western” and “Southern” branches of Ukrzaliznytsia were named after their geographical connection to the Russian Empire. Although territorially they are located in other regions. That’s why it definitely needs to be changed,” said Fedorov.
1.1 million Ukrainians voted. Of them, more than 417.2 thousand are for the “Central Railway” option, Fedorov said.
Now Ukrainians can choose a new name for “Southern Railway”.
