Starting August 1, Ukrzaliznytsia will add women-only coupes to four long-distance trains, according to a press release from the railway company.
The trains that will have women-only coupes are:
- No. 1/2 Kharkiv – Ivano-Frankivsk
- No. 5/6 Zaporizhzhia – Yasinya
- No. 43/44 Cherkasy – Ivano-Frankivsk
- No. 95/96 Kyiv – Rakhiv
The cost of these coupes will be the same as other coupes of the same type on the train. However, they will provide women with a sense of privacy and security during their journey.
These trains will join the eight trains that already have women-only coupes:
- No. 15/16 Kharkiv – Yasinya
- No. 17/18 Kharkiv – Uzhhorod
- No. 26/236 Odessa – Rakhiv
- No. 3/4 Zaporizhzhia – Uzhhorod
- No. 41/42 Dnipro – Truskavets
- No. 29/30 Kyiv – Uzhhorod
- No. 81/82 Kyiv – Uzhhorod
- No. 75/76 Kyiv – Kryvyi Rih
This is a welcome move for women who travel alone or who simply prefer to have their own space. It is also a sign of Ukrzaliznytsia’s commitment to providing a safe and comfortable travel experience for all passengers.
Here are some additional details about the women-only coupes:
- They will be located in a separate section of the train.
- They will have a door that locks from the inside.
- There will be a conductor on duty in the women-only section at all times.
