For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukrzaliznytsia is resuming passenger rail service with Mykolaiv. The carrier received the relevant permission from the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration and the military. The first train to Mykolaiv will leave Kyiv at 22:00 today. The last long-distance passenger train arrived in Mykolaiv on February 24.
Train #122/121 Kyiv — Mykolaiv will run on even numbers from the capital and on odd numbers from Mykolaiv.
It will leave the capital at 22:14 and arrive in Mykolaiv at 07:15. In the return direction, the train will depart at 22:09 and arrive in Kyiv at 06:55. Tickets can already be purchased at ticket offices, in the application or chatbots of Ukrzaliznytsia.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, Mykolaiv was a front-line city and held defenses in the south of Ukraine. After the de-occupation of Kherson, the front line shifted, and we received permission to restore the railway connection to the city. This is especially important on the eve of winter, when people will be able, if necessary, to conveniently travel to other cities of Ukraine or bring everything they need,” said Oleksandr Kamyshin, chairman of the board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
He also added that the railway connection with Kherson will be restored in the next few days. “Railwaymen are already working on the route, they are immediately following the military and explosives. A lot of damage to the infrastructure has already been discovered, but we will quickly restore it and launch the long-awaited flight of our “Train to Victory,” added the head of Ukrzaliznytsia.
