Following the introduction of women’s compartments in passenger trains in Ukraine, family compartments will soon be introduced.
During a briefing, the head of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Yevhen Lyashchenko, announced that in the coming months, the company, in collaboration with the UNICEF fund, will launch special compartments for passengers traveling with families. These compartments will operate on domestic routes, according to Railinsider. Family compartments will be present on at least three routes, consisting of six compartments. There is a possibility that there will be more,” Lyashchenko noted.
In June 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia began selling tickets to women’s compartments on four long-distance routes: No. 81/82 Kyiv – Uzhgorod; No. 41/42 Dnipro – Truskavets; No. 75/76 Kyiv – Kryvyi Rih; and No. 15/16 Kharkiv – Yasinya.
In the autumn of 2023, four more Ukrzaliznytsia trains with women’s compartments were added: No. 17/18 Kharkiv – Uzhgorod; No. 29/30 Kyiv – Uzhgorod; No. 3/4 Zaporizhzhia – Uzhgorod; and No. 26/236 Odesa – Rakhiv.
